Ok....so one didn't actually hit the apartment complex where I am...
But we got woken up at 1:30 this morning by the tornado sirens. The cell passed right over us, and I'm not sure where it touched down yet.....but...
WOW.....
It was fun....just like all the disaster drills....
The alarm went off, and I was literally dressed and ready to go to shelter (with my cat in her carrier and my trauma bag) in under 2 minutes...

And guess what....
Its thundering/lightning again.......

Yay photo shoot day!
OMG I am a happy Jo right now. I just got home a lil bit ago from an AWESOME photo shoot.
There are a TON of awesome shots that we did, and I can't wait to get the whole CD of them.
Once I do, I will figure out how to post them on here, of I will make special albums on myspace and facebook, then send you the links.

Today is Memorial Day...
A day when we're supposed to stop for a moment and think about all those who have died under the cause of keeping this country free.
Whatever the war, whatever the encounter, wherever the station....our armed forces were there...protecting the rest of us back home.

I R HAPPY JO!
I got to see something really neat...yet really GROSS at the same time today...
I saw my first compound fracture. REALLY bloody, bony bits everywhere, and I'm honestly surprised that the part didn't just fall off from lack of stuff holding it to the rest of the body! It actually made some of the trauma pictures in my EMT class book look TAME!
Oh...and I've decided that I'm not just 'vertically challenged'.....
I'm F***ing SHORT!
I was the ONLY girl at the station today...and at LEAST 6-8 inches shorter than the shortest guy there.....AND I'm the newest-certified.....so I was getting all the short jokes, the rookie jokes, and all the "hey, YOU're a girl..." stuff...
It was friggin' HILARIOUS.
We were pretty much non-stop today too...
I LOVED IT!
Yeah, I'm in a good mood. I'm feeling better, even WITH the newly-acquired sunburn, and it was 82* today! Can't complain there! :)
Ok...time to go scrounge for some post-work food, then into the shower then off to bed...I have to get up REALLY early again today...

Well, here I am, sitting at home, trying to get rid of this pain-in-the-ass cold. I was ok 2 days ago, then not too long before I left work for the night, I started feeling really crappy. By the time I left work, my throat was hurting so bad that I couldn't talk, my nose was clogged shut, and I was starting to feel like someone had run me over with a truck. By yesterday morning, my muscles were locking up on me, and I was so dizzy that I couldn't stand up, so I said screw it and slept 90% of yesterday. Today, though....most of the muscle lock-up has stopped, but I am still freezing, even though I have multiple layers of clothing and blankets out the wazoo on my bed....
Oh well...I usually get sick like this at least twice a year....so here's the first one for this year...I will be out of commission for another day or so, but I should be ok....save for a few pounds lighter! :)
Speaking of losing weight...I started out in March weighing 287 lbs. I am now down to 267! *happydance* At least I know that the numbers are going in the RIGHT direction...course, I haven't weighed myself in a lil while, so that number might be even lower! That would make me a VERY happy girl!
I was pretty bummed about getting sick too...because I had to cancel a photo shoot that I'd had scheduled for this afternoon. I've been needing to get some new shots done for a VERY long time (as my current ones are all at least 4 years old)...but we are going to reschedule for sometime in the next week or two...YAY!
Also, something cute happened at work on Saturday. One of my first patients for the day was a little girl who busted her lip open. She was terrified about the whole situation, but I had her laughing by the time she and her mom left the ward. At about 5 p.m., I was out in the ambulance bay cleaning my rig, when my partner came out and said "Hey, there's someone in the lobby looking for you..." I had no idea who it was - one of my Ohio/Michigan friends, someone from NERO, or one of my roommate's family? I was actually kinda nervous, but I cleaned off my hands and went inside....and that little girl from in the morning came running over to me and jumped up on my leg, hugging me like crazy. I was pretty surprised because she did that....but there was also a waiting room full of people (most of whom were waiting for another patient that wasn't cleared to leave the ward yet...) when this happened.
It was one of those "gives ya the warm'n'fuzzy" moments. :)
Now, I'm going to go back to bed, get warm again, and try to get rid of this friggin' cold....I have stuff to do, and I don't like being sidetracked by something like this...
Before I go, though....a few requests...
My natural-born brother has been in the hospital since last Monday. I think they JUST released him a day or so ago, and he's been having a LOT of issues with his diabetes, so I'm hoping that he's finally back on the right track.
One of my adopted brothers is also having some really icky personal situations to deal with...I promised him that I wouldn't give details, but there are some really bad things he's dealing with at the moment....
If you would send prayers/energy/etc to these two, I would be MOST appreciative. Thanks in advance!

Within about a week after starting my freshman year at WJU, I found out that there was another girl (a junior, I think...) with the same first and last name as I. LUCKILY, we both had different middle names, and once we figured out why we were getting eachother's mail, we started going by our middle names.
Hence why almost all of you know me as Jo. :)
